Wellness Packages
Learn why these wellness tests may be advised, how to prepare and how long they usually take. Your preparation instructions may vary according to the selected package and your doctor’s advice.

Bone Mineral Density Test BMD
Purpose and use:
A bone density scan is a simple, non-invasive procedure used to assess bone density. It may be advised for adults with a disease or condition associated with low bone mass or bone loss. It may also be advised after vitamin D3 testing. A radiologist interprets the scan findings.
Preparation:
Confirm any preparation instructions with the Wellness Department when booking.
Approximate duration:
5 to 10 minutes.
Spirometry and Pulmonary Function Test PFT
Purpose and use:
Pulmonary function testing helps assess lung disease in people with breathlessness, wheezing, cough, phlegm or chest discomfort. It may be used alongside chest imaging, blood gas measurements or oxygen-level readings. It can help assess conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma, monitor treatment effects, and assess risk before lung surgery. It may also be relevant to people working in dusty or hazardous environments.
Preparation:
Avoid smoking for at least 1 hour, alcohol for at least 4 hours, heavy exercise for at least 30 minutes and a large meal for at least 2 hours before the test. Wear clothing that allows you to breathe comfortably. Bring your medicines and ask your healthcare provider whether any need to be withheld on the day of the test.
Approximate duration:
15 to 20 minutes.

2D Echo Heart Examination
Purpose and use:
A 2D Echo may be used to investigate symptoms suspected to have a heart-related cause. It helps assess suspected or known congenital heart disease, structural abnormalities, heart murmurs, valve changes and suspected heart infection. It may also help evaluate complications after a heart attack, suspected masses or clots, fluid around the heart and conditions affecting the heart muscle or its surrounding covering.
Preparation:
No special preparation is required for a standard transthoracic echocardiogram. You can eat, drink and take your medicines as usual.
Approximate duration:
Approximately 20 minutes.
Treadmill Stress Test TMT
Purpose and use:
A treadmill stress test records ECG changes while you exercise under the supervision of a team that includes a doctor. It may be used to assess coronary artery disease and investigate symptoms such as chest discomfort or breathlessness, or changes seen on an ECG.
Preparation:
The brochure advises avoiding food and drink for 3 hours before the test. Confirm the instructions when booking. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for exercise. People with diabetes, particularly those using insulin, need individual instructions from their physician. Follow the scheduling team’s advice about medicines. The test is explained before you sign a consent form.
Approximate duration:
Approximately 20 minutes.

Ultrasound of the Abdomen and Pelvis
Purpose and use:
An abdominal and pelvic ultrasound may help investigate abdominal masses, enlargement of the abdominal aorta, gallbladder inflammation, gallstone-related pain, appendicitis, kidney stones and urinary tract conditions. It may also be used to assess uterine fibroids, ovarian masses and pregnancy.
Preparation:
Preparation depends on the organs being examined. For the gallbladder, liver, pancreas or spleen, you may be advised to have a fat-free meal the evening before and then fast until the scan. Follow the instructions given about water and medicines. For a bladder, uterine or pelvic examination, you may be asked to drink water and hold your urine so the bladder is full.
Approximate duration:
15 to 20 minutes.
Mammography Breast Examination
Purpose and use:
Mammography may be advised to investigate an abnormal screening mammogram, follow up a previously identified abnormality, or assess a breast lump, localised breast pain or tenderness, a suspected abscess, spontaneous nipple discharge or new nipple changes such as inversion.
Preparation:
You will need to undress to the waist for the examination. Avoid wearing jewellery.
Approximate duration:
10 to 15 minutes.

Chest X Ray
Purpose and use:
A chest X-ray is an imaging test used to detect changes involving the heart and lungs.
Preparation:
No special preparation is listed for this test.
Approximate duration:
Approximately 5 minutes.

Preparation:
No special preparation is listed for these tests.
Approximate duration:
